Beautification Society Planning "Hometown Hero" Banner Campaign
East Islip may be the next Long Island town to erect military posters

EAST ISLIP, NY — The East Islip Beautification Society is planning a "hometown heroes" banner project, similar to the one the Town of Babylon has undertaken this year.
According to Dana Rehm Ehlich, president of the beautification society, the project would aim to have the banners up for the week of the Fourth of July holiday in 2020, and for Memorial Day in 2021. The society will hang and take down the banners and store them, and residents interested in erecting a banner would supply the photograph, and cover the costs of the banner. Ehlich estimates the cost would be between $70 and $110 per banner.
"They will be hung on lampposts along Main Street. This is open to anyone who has served our country, firemen and police officers," she posted on Facebook. Any resident interested in a banner should contact Ehlich at Dana2086@aol.com.
