Recall Announced For Chicken Sold At Aldi And Other Stores

LONG ISLAND, NY ?A frozen chicken product sold at Aldi supermarkets along with other stores was recalled this week due to the risk of Salmonella contamination. The pre-breaded chicken is produced by Serenade Foods and sold under a variety of product names. Aldi, the discount grocery, has eight locations across Long Island.

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the recall Monday for the chicken, produced on February 24 and February 25 and labeled under the following names:

• Dutch Farms Chicken with Broccoli & Cheese packages
• Milford Valley Chicken with Broccoli & Cheese
• Milford Valley Chicken Cordon Bleu
• Kirkwood Raw Stuffed Chicken, Broccoli & Cheese
• Kirkwood Raw Stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu

According to CNN, the USDA has been investigating an outbreak of 28 Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses across eight different states from February through June.

Consumers should check labels of these products in their freezer and throw away or return any from this time period to the store.

Eating Salmonella-contaminated food can cause a bacterial illness that causes diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever and can be serious in some people.
