New East Islip Hero Shop Nears Completion

EAST ISLIP, NY— After a very long wait, Corcoran's Hero Shoppe will soon be opening in East Islip. The subway sandwich eatery has been in the works at 133 E. Montauk Hwy. since 2014. The 1950's style hero and deli shop is now gearing up for a spring 2021 opening.

After setbacks with permits and other delays, the restaurant announced on social media this week that telephones are turned on and a spring opening date is coming. The building has been transformed from vacant to a freshened up restaurant that will have indoor and outdoor seating, the owners told Patch.

"Been a crazy journey but will be nice [with] seating for 30 inside and 30 outside with a walk-up window. [It] will be 50s-style black and white flooring and 50s decor," John Launonen, husband to Eileen Corcoran Launonen said. Eileen and her sister Corrine Corcoran are co-owners and together boast 54 years living in the East Islip area.

The eatery will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
