Parent Of 2 East Islip Students Confirmed To Have Coronavirus: SD
Superintendent John V. Dolan confirmed Friday that the parent of two local students has tested positive for the virus.
EAST ISLIP, NY — The East Islip School District announced on Friday that a parent of two students in the district tested positive for the coronavirus. In a letter to the community, Superintendent John V. Dolan stated the confirmed case impacts John F. Kennedy Elementary School, East Islip Middle School and East Islip High School.
"Under the guidance of the County Health Department, we have notified people in the appropriate fashion," Dolan wrote in the letter. "If you or someone in your family was directly affected, you should receive notification from the Suffolk County Department of Health."

The schools have been closed since Monday. On Sunday, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced that all public and private K-12 schools in Suffolk County have been ordered to close for two weeks amid dozens of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. As testing has been increasing across Long Island, more and more positive cases are being reported this week. On Thursday, Suffolk County's number of confirmed coronavirus cases climbed to 239, up from 152 Wednesday, with 3 deaths. There are a total of 39 within the Tow of Islip, but it is not clear how many of those are in the hamlet of East Islip.
