2 Town Of Huntington Beaches Closed To Bathing
Two beaches in the Town of Huntington area were closed to bathing due to an excess of bacteria.
TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY–Centerport Yacht Club Beach and Valley Grove Beach in Northport were closed to bathing due to bacteria being found above acceptable levels, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services announced Wednesday.
Bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken stated via press release.
The beaches will re-open once further testing shows that the bacteria have decreased to an acceptable level.
