5 Ways You Can Stay Cool During The Heat Wave In Huntington

Here are five places Huntington residents can go in order to stay cool during this weekend's heat wave.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Temperatures are expected to rise to nearly 100 degrees this weekend—without factoring in humidity. Here are some ways Huntington residents can keep cool during the heat wave throughout the Town of Huntington.

  • Dix Hills Park Pool: The public pool closest to Huntington is the Dix Hills Park Pool, which is roughly a 25 minute drive. There will be normal hours on Friday (12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and extended hours on Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.). The facility is 50-meters in length, equipped with a half-meter diving board, two 1-meter diving boards and a large deck area for sunning. The facility is also equipped with locker rooms, a playground area, kiddie pool and food concession. Non-residents accompanied by a Town resident may use the pool by paying the daily Non-ID Card holder fee. More information here.
  • Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo Memorial Spray Park: Located at Elwood Park on Cuba Hill Road, the spray park is about a 20 minute drive away from Huntington. The facility has extended hours as well on Saturday and Sunday (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.), though has the normal 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. hours on Friday. Residents must show photo ID proving residence to enter the spray pad. More info on the spray park here.
  • Crescent Beach: A beach located on Crescent Beach Drive in Huntington Bay is one of the beaches residents can stay cool at in Huntington. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Gold Star Battalion Beach: Another beach in Huntington, located on West Shore Road. According to LongIsland.com, there's a roped-off swimming area.
  • Town of Huntington Senior Center: On weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the senior center located at 423 Park Ave., Huntington is a Town-designated cooling center.
