Town of Huntington: People who register online for Huntington Councilwoman Joan Cergol’s “Readings Under the Tent” at Arboretum Park can receive a special benefit: a 10 percent discount at a local bookstore on books by two of the local authors who will be reading from their works at the August 20 event.
Book Revue, Long Island’s leading independent bookstore, has agreed to offer the discount on works by Amy Giles, who writes young adult fiction, and romance novelist Jeannie Moon, both of whom are part of the August 20 program. The bookstore does not stock works by the third participating author, historical nonfiction writer Michael Bobelian.
“I thank Book Revue for helping support our local authors, and hope their followers will respond by helping to support a local business,” Councilwoman Cergol said. “Customers can then bring their books to Readings Under the Tent, and Amy and Jeannie will be happy to sign them.”

Readings Under the Tent is free and registration is not required. But people who do sign up by going to http://www.huntingtonny.gov/Readings-Under-the-Tent will receive an email confirmation. Presenting that confirmation at Book Revue, which is located at 313 New York Avenue in Huntington Village, will entitle them to the one-time discount on Giles and Moon’s books; no books will be available for purchase at the park.
The event, originally scheduled for July but postponed because of rain, begins at 6 p.m. in the park, located on Wilmington Drive in Melville, just off Bagatelle Road south of the Long Island Expressway.

The three authors represent different genres and appeal to different audiences.
An award-winning author, lawyer and journalist whose works have covered issues ranging from legal affairs to corporate wrongdoing to human rights, Michael Bobelian’s current book, Battle for the Marble Palace: Abe Fortas, Earl Warren, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and the Forging of the Modern Supreme Court, is a narrative account of the politicization of the Court during the 1950s and '60s.
Young adult fiction author Amy Giles’ most recent novel, That Night, explores how two teens, who each lost a brother in a mass shooting, slowly become friends and then something more, learning to heal and move forward together.
Jeannie Moon is the author of sixteen contemporary romances. Her latest novel, All of Me – the third installment in her Compass Cove series -- is scheduled for August 28 publication.
