Car Crashes Into Tree In Centerport; Driver Hurt

A driver was hospitalized after their vehicle crashed into a tree on Sunday afternoon in Centerport.

According to fire officials, the crash occurred on Salem Ridge Drive at 3 p.m. The driver was taken to Huntington Hospital via Centerport Fire Department Rescue Squad to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Centerport firefighters and rescue personnel responded with an engine, heavy rescue truck, ambulance, fire police and paramedic unit. Units were under the direction of Chief Richard Miltner, Second Assistant Chief Kyle McLaughlin and Deputy Chief Medical Dr. Jack Geffken, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
