Driver Rescued from Greenlawn Crash
The driver was transported to Huntington Hospital after striking and cracking a utility pole early Friday morning, firefighters say.

A driver was injured Friday after an early morning crash in Greenlawn, authorities said.
The driver of the car struck and cracked a utility pole at about 1:10 a.m. on Elwood Road near Hammond Road, according to the Town of Huntington’s Fire Chiefs’ Council.

After PSEG de-energized the downed power lines, Greenlawn Fire Department used heavy rescue tools to remove the driver’s side door and extricate the driver, authorities said.

Two heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances and a paramedic unit were on the scene with about 25 firefighters, according to officials.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Greenlawn Fire Department’s Rescue Squad to Huntington Hospital, authorities said.

The incident was under the command of Chief Kurt Allen with the support of Assistant Chiefs Mike Zeis, Mike Bellis and Joe Costanza.
