Elderly Suffolk Woman Badly Injured When Husband Drives Into Tree
The husband suffered minor injuries after the Wednesday evening crash, police say.
HUNTINGTON, NY — A husband and wife were injured in a car crash Wednesday night in Huntington, Suffolk police said.
Richard Scholem, 88, of Huntington, was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima eastbound on La Rue Drive when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree around 7:40 p.m., police said.
Scholem was brought to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries. Scholem’s wife, Ann Scholem, 89, a passenger, was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with serious injuries, police said.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
