Free Coronavirus Testing Site Opens In Town Of Huntington
The Greenlawn site opened Monday and will provide up to 150 diagnostic tests each day through mid-December.
GREENLAWN, NY — A new coronavirus testing center opened in Greenlawn on Monday. Northwell Health, with the Suffolk County Department of Health and Town of Huntington, cited the rising transmission rate in Huntington Station as a primary factor.
The new testing site, located at the Dolan Family Health Center on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn, is staffed by clinicians who will provide up to 150 diagnostic tests a day through Dec. 18, according to a news release.
The goal is to minimize hospitalizations through testing, identifying, treating, quarantining and bending the curve on the spread of the virus. Huntington Station was a COVID-19 hot spot in March and April, which caused Huntington Hospital to be completely filled, according to officials. The hospital treated more than 1,200 hospitalized COVID-19 patients since the beginning of the pandemic, including 261 at its April 6 peak.
