Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

Thunderstorms are on their way toward Long Island and they could produce heavy rain capable of causing flooding, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook issued for the region.

The best chance for storms will be from around 10 p.m. Thursday until 3 a.m. Friday.

Thursday Night- Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 71. South wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 87. West wind around 9 mph.

Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 69. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 72.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 88.

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 69.

Monday- Sunny, with a high near 85.
