Officials say they are closely monitoring the storm.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone urges residents to have common sense with their Labor Day weekend plans. “If conditions are indeed treacherous at some point this weekend, do not travel if it is not safe to,” he said.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini says his crew is prepared for a possible natural disaster. SCPD has 20 humvees, two five-ton high axle trucks which can be used for patrols and rescues during flooding and other storm conditions. They also have four helicopters that will be used to assess the damage the storm causes to Suffolk County’s coastline.
“We will be out there in force to makes sure we are there in the event that there are rescue missions that need to be conducted,” Sini said at a press conference.
