Hunt. Station LIRR Parking Garage Waterproofing Starts Next Week

The waterproofing will take 4 to 6 weeks. Check out the areas that will be affected.

The waterproofing of a level of the South Parking Garage at the LIRR Huntington Station will start next week and will take about 4 to 6 weeks.

A contractor was hired to perform waterproofing of a portion of Level 2 of the parking garage.

“This is one of many improvements the Town has been coordinating with the LIRR on at the Huntington Train Station,” Huntington Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said in a press release. “This project will make the South Parking Garage safer for Huntington commuters.”

The project will start Monday, June 4.

A small portion of the parking garage will be cleaned and waterproofed, including the three stairwells within the parking garage. Construction joints and cove joints will be replaced. New pavement markings will be installed after the waterproofing is complete.

Below are the affected areas:

  • Western half of Parking Level 2 - which includes 8 Accessible Parking Stalls which will be removed from service (Additional Accessible Parking is located on the Ground Level of the South Parking Garage)
  • A portion of the Entry Ramp to Level 2
  • The Entry Ramp from Level 2 up to Level 3
  • All three stairwells from the Ground Level to the 5th Level (the treads and risers)
