Huntington Junior Named To All-State Football Team
Nasir Youngblood, a junior running back for the Huntington High School Blue Devils, was recognized on a state level for his breakout season.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Nasir Youngblood, a junior running back at Huntington High School, saw his breakout football season rewarded when he was named to the all-state football team, the Huntington Union Free School District announced via news release.
Youngblood rushed for more than 1,200 yards and scored 18 touchdowns for the Blue Devils this season. The New York State Sportswriters Association recognized him with the statewide distinction.
He rushed 138 times for 1,260 yards for an average of 9.1 yards per carry; nearly a first down each time he touched the ball. His 18 touchdowns place him among Suffolk’s leaders. He also helped lead the Blue Devils to the playoffs, where he scored a pair of touchdowns in a loss at North Babylon.

The speedy Youngblood also runs on Huntington’s championship winter and spring track teams. He’s known for his effusive and affable personality.
"I feel that football went well," Youngblood said about the 2019 season according to the release. "Sadly, we lost in the first round, but we win some, we lose some. It only makes us better. But overall, the season went very well. We just have to improve on our mistakes."

Among Youngblood’s most memorable games last fall were incredible performances against Copiague, Smithtown East and Northport. In a 55-7 win over Copiague, the junior carried the ball 14 times for 202 yards and five touchdowns. In a 27-20 overtime victory over visiting Smithtown East, he rushed 23 times for 283 yards and three touchdowns. In a 27-0 win at Northport, he carried 23 times for 180 yards and a trip to the end zone.
He is known for his open field running and ability to break long gains. He is also an exceptional kick returner.
Youngblood was earlier named to the All-County team.
"Well, I don’t really have too much to say about the awards that I’ve won," he said. "It just feels good to win games. I’m going to just work hard to get even more next year. Concerning the individual glory, it just feels good to have my name out there."
While the running back feels he can surpass 2,000 rushing yards in his senior year, but he'd prefer to win a championship for Huntington.
"The goal is to just win it all; game by game," he said.
