Huntington Resident Commemorates 125 Anniversary of the Wall Street Journal
"Pratt Celebrates 125 Years of The Wall Street Journal" is on display at the school's Manhattan gallery through Aug. 21.

Sean Fogarty, a student at Pratt Institute and a resident of Huntington, is one of 11 students chosen to take part in an initiative to create work that celebrates the rich history of The Wall Street Journal, which commemorated its 125th anniversary in July.
The Industrial Design student will have his work featured in the exhibition “Pratt Celebrates 125 Years of The Wall Street Journal,” on display at Pratt’s Manhattan Gallery through Aug. 21. The gallery is a public exhibition space located at 144 W. 14th Street in New York City.
Fogarty created a walnut and acrylic sculpture to reflect the Journal’s growth over 125 years. The wood and acrylic bands abstractly reference the transformation of the Journal from a primarily business-oriented paper to a multi-pronged source covering all arenas of life.

Students created works in their chosen medium, drawing inspiration from one or more of eight themes provided by Dow Jones, WSJ’s parent company. Themes range from technology’s impact on media consumption to the evolution of the Journal from its 1889 four-page newsletter to the global brand it is today. Fogarty and fellow students were given special access to the Journal’s staffers and archives to inform their work.
Pratt Manhattan Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. For more information, visit http://www.pratt.edu/.
