Huntington Station Olympian To Compete In Doubles Luge

Watch the two-time Olympian compete for a medal on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Huntington Station native and two-time Olympian Matt Mortensen is set to compete in the doubles luge in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Mortensen, 32, and his partner Jayson Terdiman will compete on Wednesday, February 14. The two runs in the doubles luge will take place at 8:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. (EST). View the schedule and results here.

Mortensen previously competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia where he placed 14th in the doubles luge.

He previously won the silver medal in team relay in the 2017 World Championship.

Mortensen’s Team USA bio says he comes from a family of nine and is a soldier and member of the Army World Class Athlete Program. His favorite place to race is Lake Placid and plays the guitar as a hobby.
