Huntington Supermarket Creates New Contactless Grocery Option
Customers can now order online, and have their groceries packed into their trunks at the Stop & Shop on Wall St.

HUNTINGTON, NY— The coronavirus pandemic spurred many Long Islanders to turn to online grocery ordering and food delivery to avoid in-person shopping. Now, one Huntington supermarket is adding another option for contactless shopping. Stop & Shop at 60 Wall St. is adding a pickup option. Customers order online then have their groceries loaded into their car in the parking lot.
When ordering, shoppers choose the pickup option, instead of delivery, and receive a time to park in a designated parking spot. Supermarket employees will then deliver the order, following COVID-19 safety protocols.
The grocery store business saw a boom over the last year, with many Americans stockpiling items and trying online ordering for the first time. CNN Business reported on Friday that the industry is now reporting a return to normal but other experts say online grocery shopping habits may continue after the pandemic, as customers continue to appreciate the convenience and time saving.
