Joseph Nappi, Huntington First Aid Squad Member, Dead At 81
Nappi was an active member of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. He died on Monday.
HUNTINGTON, NY — Joseph Nappi, who was an active member of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad, died on Monday at the age of 81. Nappi was born on Oct. 11, 1939.
He was the loving husband of Laura; cherished father of Debbie Demeo (Peter), Donna Castellano, Darlene Feinman (Joel); and devoted grandfather of Joey, Dillon, Olivia, Sophia, Peter, Justin and Brooke, according to A.L. Jacobsen Funeral Home.
Nappi served the Huntington community for more than 33 years, the Huntington Community First Aid Squad posted on Facebook.
"During Joe’s membership he touched a lot of lives, helped a lot of people and made a huge impact on his friends within our agency," the first aid squad wrote.
Nappi was a riding member of the Tuesday 1900 and most recently provided essential assistance to the chief's office.
He is remembered as "an incredibly nice man & a gentleman" by Mary Winter, who spent a lot of time serving with Nappi.
"He fit in immediately when he joined our Tuesday 1900 shift," she stated. "He was a compassionate & caring crew leader & crew member. He could joke with the best of us, feel compassion with other crew members over family issues & always be mindful of our care & attitude of our patients. He ended up being the oldest on our crew which John Palmieri & I always reminded him of. He was part of our reputation of being the fastest crew out of the building when an alarm came in — 'Seniors on the Run!' He really was special and will be truly missed."

Visitation for Nappi is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at A.L. Jacobsen Funeral Home, Inc., at 1380 New York Ave., Huntington Station.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to Laura, and his entire family," the first aid squad wrote. "May Joe’s family find solace in knowing that Joe lived his life in the service of others, always being available to help those in need, doing the things he loved."
