Local DAR Chapter Celebrates Constitution Week

Ketewamoke Chapter in Huntington invites the public to join in the "Ringing of the Bells" at 4 PM September 17th

In 1955, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) petitioned Congress to set aside a week in September to observe the signing of the United States Constitution, which took place on September 17, 1787. This week, known as "Constitution Week" is observed from September 17 -23 each year. The traditional kick-start to this week of celebration is a bell ringing ceremony that takes place throughout the country at 4 PM EST, known as the "Ringing of the Bells".

Ketewamoke Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, located in Huntington, invites the public to join in this patriotic celebration and make a joyful noise by ringing a bell today, wherever you may be, at 4 PM.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the largest women's service organization in the world, promotes patriotism, historic preservation and education. Members of the DAR share a common connection; all descend from men and women who supported the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War. Over 1 million women have been admitted to membership since the organization's founding nearly 130 years ago.
