Long Island Weather: March Begins Unseasonably Warm
There may be some showers (and even a hint of snow), but this week is going to be beautiful.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Last month was the wettest — and warmest — February on record for Long Island and it appears March is off to a similar start. The National Weather Service expects temperatures to remain above freezing all week, with highs in the mid-50s. The coldest daytime forecast calls for temperature in the upper 40s, which isn't bad considering it's still winter.
Some showers are in the forecast for the early part of the week, but they could miss us entirely. However, even with the warm temperatures, there's a chance of snow at the end of the week.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. South wind 9 to 18 mph.
Tonight: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind 10 to 17 mph.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 9 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 42. South wind 7 to 11 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. West wind 9 to 14 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 50.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
Friday: A 40 percent chance of rain after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48.
Friday Night: A chance of rain before midnight, then a chance of rain and snow between midnight and 3 a.m., then a chance of snow after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
