Obituary: Karen Rogers Holden, 56, Beloved Nurse, Mother, Wife

Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday while a funeral mass will be held Friday.

Karen Rogers Holden, 56, of Huntington Station, was taken senselessly on Sunday, June 26 by an alleged drunken driver.

Dedicated longtime registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital. Loving wife of William. Proud mother of Kenneth (Cynthia) and Robert. Cherished daughter of the late Louise Falco, Richard Rogers and his wife Kathie. Adored sister of Lynne Pallmeyer (John), Kristen Anderson (Ryan) and William Rogers (Ally). Beloved aunt of Audrey Pallmeyer.

Also survived by her dearest friends Janet, Jackie, Jane, Joanne, Terry, Cathy and cousin Liisa. Karen was especially loved by Ellen, Jane, Lucy (Mike), Clare (Peter), Julie (Tony) and her many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, located at 934 New York Ave. in Huntington Station, on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, July 6 from 7-9 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral mass will be held Friday, July 8 at at St. Patrick's Church, located at 400 Main St. in Huntington at 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Huntington Community First Aid Squad will be appreciated by the family.

The Huntington community has banded together to show support for Karen and her family following her death. Donate to the “Holden Family Support Fund” here.

A candlelight vigil was held in honor of Karen. Friends of the beloved nurse created the campaign “Keys for Karen” to combat against drunk driving.
