Overnight Closures Set For Next Week On State Route 231
There will be overnight closures next week on State Route 231 on both northbound and southbound lanes for a couple of nights.
Motorists should expect brief full overnight closures next week on both the northbound and southbound lanes of State Route 231 (Deer Park Road) in the Town of Huntington on a pair of dates, per a travel advisory release from the New York State Department of Transportation.
On the nights of Tuesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 20 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., crews will install new overhead signs and sign structures on Route 231 just north and south of the Northern State Parkway interchange, respectively. The left lane in both directions will be closed during those periods. There will also be brief full closures in both directions while the signs and structures are installed.
The work being done is part of a $15.7 million safety improvement project meant to upgrade the interchange. New entrance and exit ramps, a new traffic signal with enhanced pedestrian signals and upgraded ramps as well as new raised medians are all components of the project.
