New Ramps To Open At NSP, Route 231 Interchange
The traffic changes go into effect on Wednesday.

The New York State Department of Transportation on Wednesday will be opening two redesigned ramps at the interchange of Northern State Parkway and Route 231 in the Town of Huntington.
The ramps, which are part of a safety improvement project, are located from southbound Route 231 to eastbound Northern State Parkway and from eastbound Northern State Parkway to Route 231.
Traffic from southbound Route 231 will now enter eastbound Northern State Parkway south of the overpass, eliminating a left turn entrance on Deforest Road. There will traffic signs in place to warn southbound travelers to stay right to enter on the new ramp.

Traffic from eastbound Northern State Parkway to southbound Route 231 will now have a new exit with a longer deceleration lane on the parkway.
The exit 42N ramp from eastbound Northern State Parkway to northbound Route 231 will also close to complete construction of a new exit ramp. Eastbound Northern State Parkway motorists looking to head north on Route 231 will temporarily exit at the new Exit 42S ramp and make a left turn at the reconfigured traffic signal.
