A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Long Island until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
At 6:01 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Woodbury or Syosset moving east at 5 mph, the National Weather Service says.

Quarter-size hail is possible and minor damage may occur to vehicles.
