Suffolk Police Announces Storm Preparations
Here's what residents should know before the impending Nor'easter hits Long Island, as well as who to call for different situations.
LONG ISLAND, NY — The Suffolk County Police Department is preparing for the Nor'easter expected to hit Long Island Thursday evening and wants residents to remain safe and cautious.
Flooding and potential power outages are expected for Long Island, as a coastal flood warning will be in effect from 5 p.m. until midnight Thursday for southern Nassau County and southwestern Suffolk County.
A wind advisory is in effect for the region, and gusts are expected to be up to 50 MPH. One of the SCPD's main concerns is the potential for downed trees and power lines, leading to power outages and other safety concerns.

Suffolk311 is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. just by dialing 311.
The Suffolk County Police Department will work with PSEG Long Island, Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services and its partners in law enforcement in an effort to keep the county's flooded areas as safe as possible during the storm.
