Town Of Huntington Awarded For 22nd Consecutive Year For Transparency In Financial Reporting

Huntington – For the 22nd year in a row, the Town of Huntington has received recognition from the national organization representing government finance professionals for transparency in financial reporting practices.

“Not only are we committed to conservative budgeting practices but we are committed to transparency in our financial reporting and this prestigious award recognizes our continued effort to remain accountable to our taxpayers and all residents,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci.
The Town of Huntington has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the year ending December 31, 2019 by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA); this is the 22nd year the Town has achieved this recognition.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The award was based on the GFOA’s analysis of the Town’s comprehensive financial report for the year ending Dec. 31, 2019. As noted in GFOA’s release about the award, “The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.”
