Town Of Huntington Memorial Day Parades, Services
Several parades and ceremonies will be held to honor veterans for their service.

The Town of Huntington will honor veterans with several Memorial Day parades and commemoration ceremonies. The series of events kick off Friday, May 25.
Wreath ceremony: Wreaths will be placed at the World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Women's Veteran Monument to honor our troops in the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The ceremony begins Sunday, May 27 at 9 a.m. at 100 Main St. in Huntington.
The Church of Saint Patrick's Youth Choir and Adult Chorale will perform patriotic songs. Refreshments to follow ceremony. For additional information, call veteran affairs coordinator Carol Rocco at (631) 351-3012.

The following parades will be held Monday, May 28:
- Centerport Fire Dept.— Harrison Drive to Park Circle at 10:30 a.m.
- Elwood-Commack Post 9263 VFW— Larkfield Road and Jericho Turnpike, east on Jericho Turnpike to junction at Veterans Highway at 10 a.m.
- Greenlawn Fire Department— East Maple Road, south on Broadway to Memorial Park, Pulaski Road & Broadway at 9 a.m.
- Huntington parade hosted by Nathan Hale VFW Post 1469 & American Legion Post 360— North on New York Ave. from Big H Shopping Center, west on West Carver St., north on Green St., east on Main St. (past reviewing stand) to Stewart Avenue at 11 a.m.
- Melville Fire Department Memorial Service— service to honor deceased firefighters, and servicemen ad women from the Melville area at Melville Fire House, located at 531 Sweet Hollow Road at 10 a.m.
- Northport American Leg. Post #694— North end of Laurel Avenue to Main Street to Northport Harbor, Village Park at 10 a.m.
The Huntington Senior Center will hold a Memorial Day commemoration on Friday, May 25 at 423 Park Ave. There will be a Color Guard, St. Anthony’s Celtic Friars Pipe Band, DJ Bob and many of the center's senior veterans will wear their military hats or uniform shirts. Paul Tropeano, a 94-year-old Army Veteran residing at Huntington Hills, who proudly served in World War II, will be the guest speaker. Tropeano was with the 544 Heavy Maintenance Ordinance Field Company in the United States Army and landed in Sainte Mere Eglise one month after the attack on June 6, 1944. Ceremony is from 11 a.m. to noon, lunch is noon to 1:20 p.m. and tunes will play from noon to 3 p.m.
