Town Of Huntington Prepares For Nor’easter
Learn how Huntington residents can prepare and protect themselves in the event of a storm.

The Town of Huntington is actively monitoring the looming Nor'easter to ensure the safety of residents and roads.
"The coming storm is expected to worsen overnight, bringing heavy rain, high winds and possibly coastal flooding and power outages over the next 48 hours,” Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said in a press release.
Highway Superintendent Kevin S. Orelli says the department is working closely with PSEG-Long Island, all local utility companies and emergency service personnel to keep roads safe.

“Our crews are equipped with a sufficient supply of chainsaws and pumps to respond to downed trees and flooding," Orelli said. "We will restore our Town Roads to normal conditions as expeditiously as possible."

- Sign up for Huntington Alert, the Town's emergency notification system.
- Sign up for Suffolk County's Code Red emergency notification system. Suffolk will use Code Red to contact residents in the event of an actual or impending emergency.
- Sign up for Suffolk County Emergency Preparedness Registry, which allows emergency responders to help locate and evacuate people with Special Needs or high risks during an emergency. Register here.
- Individuals with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities can be registered with the Suffolk County Police Department "Silver Alert/Special Needs Alert" program. This program shares vital information to law enforcement, the media and community in the event a person wanders or becomes separated during a storm.
