Winter Clothing Drive for Needy Children in Huntington Station

Here's how Huntington residents can help.

A local nonprofit is asking Huntington residents to clean out their closets and donate gently-used or new coats, sweaters, sweatshirts and blankets to help those less fortunate.

Donations can be dropped off at Legislator D’Amaro’s district office, located at 130 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, between now and Dec. 8 on Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

D’Amaro is collecting these items as part of the donation drive for “Every Child’s Dream,” an organization that helps those less fortunate.

“Seasons come and go and children grow quickly, and we all have items in our closets that are still in wonderful condition yet no longer fit,” D’Amaro said. “Rather than throw these items out, we can donate them. Just think about how last year’s favorite coat can keep someone warm all winter long this year.”

For those who prefer to offer a monetary donation, checks made out to “Every Child’s Dream” will be accepted as well.

Children of all ages are in need, so all sizes are welcome. “Every Child’s Dream” is also accepting new toys.

Later this month, “Every Child’s Dream” will host its 13th Annual Holiday Celebration for approximately 400 homeless and needy individuals in Suffolk County to share in the spirit of the season.
