HUNTINGTON, NY — The United States and France are set for a quarterfinal clash in the 2019 Women's World Cup, on Friday, at 3 p.m.
The U.S. team came into the tournament as the overall favorites to lift the trophy and, as of now, they've met those lofty expectations. The 23-player roster from the United States have won all four of their games, including a shocking 13-0 win over Thailand.
Star player Alex Morgan is the joint high goal in the tournament with five goals and the team's defense has only allowed one goal in the four games. But the Americans are only just about to enter the truly challenging part of the competition. The team had to rely on two penalty kicks to defeat a strong Spanish foe.
