Brookhaven To Reopen Beloved Senior, Rec Centers Shut In Pandemic
Facilities like Mount Sinai's Rose Caracappa Senior Center and the Mastic Recreation Center will be open Tuesday with COVID-19 protocols.

MOUNT SINAI, NY — The Town of Brookhaven has plans to open its senior and recreation centers, a well as other facilities, on Tuesday after over a year of closures due to COVID-19.
Supervisor Ed Romaine will mark the re-opening in a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai to welcome back seniors after it being closed for more than a year.
The town’s senior centers and other facilities have been closed to the public since March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but after Tuesday, all facilities will be open to the public with "some COVID-19 safety protocols remaining in place," according to a town news release.
