After the heavy rainfall many North Shore beaches are under a no-bathing advisory, in place until Sunday morning. Check the list before you head out. Elsa left a few roadways flooded but less power outages than many feared. And residents are concerned about a new proposed large solar farm.

Here are the top stories today in Miller Place-Rocky Point:

  1. A number of Suffolk County beaches have advisories against bathing after yesterday's rainfall. The advisory lifts Sunday morning, unless continued elevated bacteria is found. Shoreham Beach, Shoreham Village Beach, Shore Shore Club Beach, Beech Road Beach, Broadway Beach, Friendship Drive Beach, Terraces on the Sound, Tides Beach (Rocky Point), Miller Place Park Beach, and Woodhull Landing in Miller Place are among the affected beaches.   2. Some intersections and roads in Port Jefferson and Mount Sinai flooded on Friday due to Elsa, including the intersection of Route 25A and Mount Sinai-Coram Road in Mount Sinai. Overall, less Long Islanders were without power than after last summer's storm. (Newsday)
  3. Residents nearby in Calverton are concerned about the approval of a large solar farm. This will be the biggest solar farm and the fifth built in Calverton. The Riverhead Town Board does not have discretion over the New York State’s Office of Renewable Energy's decisions. (Riverhead News-Review)
