‘A Celebration Of Hometown Heroes’ Planned In Rocky Point
The July 4 event will feature a presentation on U.S. Navy vet "William "Buddy" McCarrick and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

ROCKY POINT, NY — Two north shore community organizations have banded together to organize an Independence Day celebration honoring local service men and women.
"A Celebration of Hometown Heroes" is planned for Sunday at the Rocky Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6249 on King Road.
It kicks off at 11 a.m.

The event, which is co-sponsored by the VFW and the Rocky Point - Sound Beach Chamber of Commerce, will feature a special presentation on U.S. Navy World War II veteran William “Buddy” McCarrick from Rocky Point.
After the presentation, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Refeshments will be served, according to organizers.
