County Legislators Honor Hometown Heroes

The Longwood Lions football team was honored by the Suffolk County Legislature for winning the Class I Long Island Championship title.

HAUPPAUGE, NY – The Longwood Football Team joined the Suffolk County Legislature on Tuesday, December 15th at the General Legislative Meeting to be honored as the Class I Long Island Champions. Legislators Sarah Anker (District 6), Robert Calarco (District 7) and Kate Browning (District 3) presented the players with a proclamation and congratulated the team on their third championship title.

“Congratulations to the Longwood Lions,” said Legislator Anker. “The team truly demonstrates that dedication and teamwork are the keys to success. I look forward to seeing many more championship titles in the team’s future.”

The championship game against the Farmingdale Dalers was the eighth win in a row for the Longwood Lions. Along with earning the Class I Long Island Championship title, the team also broke to the Long Island Championship record for ground yards by accumulating 555 rushing yards during the game.
