Richard Brodsky looks at Senator Chuck Schumer's efforts to raise awareness of Lyme disease this summer, predicted to be a bad year for the tick-borne disease. 72% of adult black-legged ticks collected at one site in Huntington, 68% on Shelter Island and 62% in Islip tested positive for Lyme disease. Schumer wants to secure funding for tick research and work on a Lyme disease vaccine. (Newsday)
