How Are You Staying Cool During This Heat Wave?

Give us the lowdown on what you do when the temperature goes up.

Heading to the library to enjoy some air conditioning while browsing for a good book or an event? Going down to the beach hoping for a nice ocean breeze? The sprinklers at the park? A movie, perhaps or an ice cream cone on the boardwalk? We all have our ways to deal with this extreme heat.

There are lots of ways to keep cool during the dog-days of summer and with temperatures expected to be above 90 degrees for the next few days we want to know what you're doing to beat the heat.

Kristine Blume, of Rocky Point, was at Cedar Beach on Tuesday for her son's swimming lessons, but even though it took her out of the air conditioning, she wasn't complaining. 

"It's really bad, I've been trying to stay in but I like the beach too," she said. "I'd rather be here than home, honestly."

"Since we don't have central a/c, the pool it is," said Betty Machin when we asked on Facebook what locals were doing in the hot weather.

John Chiarella had a simple suggestion: stay in the air conditioning.

"There's a dial on the wall that makes it any temperature I choose," he wrote.
