CORAM, NY – On Saturday, June 19th, a representative from Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker’s office joined Coram Fire Department Commissioner Van Johnson, boy scouts, troop leaders, and scout families and friends to honor Troop 560’s newest Eagle Scouts: Byron Adlam and Ethan Farrell. The ceremony was held at the Coram Fire Department Headquarters.

“I would like to congratulate the newest Eagle Scouts of Troop 560, Byron Adlam and Ethan Farrell,” said Legislator Anker. “I would also like to congratulate Ryan Pfister who had his Eagle Scout ceremony last Saturday. Young leaders like Byron, Ethan and Ryan do amazing work for our community and it’s always a pleasure to honor them.”

Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can receive. It requires hard work and dedication for a scout to earn 21 merit badges, complete a community service project and undergo a lengthy review process. Byron Adlam, Ethan Farrell, and Ryan Pfister received the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout after completing their community service projects. Byron worked with UNAYO (United North Amityville Youth Organization), an organization that aims to provide activities and sports to youth, to create the UNAYO Serenity Rock Garden. The garden will serve as a space for the youth to relax and reflect. Ethan created a Flag Retirement Container for the Coram Firehouse, which will be used to collect and properly retire flags, as well as memorialize the Coram Firefighters who gave their lives while serving the community. Ryan fundraised over $2,800 which he used to construct a new podium for the Middle Island Fire Department and donated the remaining funds to the Department’s Explorer (Juniors) Program.
