LI Woman With 18 License Suspensions Caught Driving: Cops

She faces a felony charge.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY – A woman whose driver's license has been suspended 18 times was caught driving Thursday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, 48-year-old Wanda Carter was driving a rented 2017 Nissan Sentra northbound on Route 110 after exiting the Americana Motel in East Farmingdale when she failed to signal and made an unsafe turn into oncoming traffic, causing other vehicles to swerve out of the way at about 10:15 p.m.

She also stopped at a green light, causing a traffic hazard, police said. First Precinct Patrol officers initiated a traffic stop and an investigation revealed that Carter’s driver’s license had been suspended 18 times.

Carter, of Rocky Point, was arrested and charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a Class E felony, and operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device. The vehicle was impounded.
