Long Island Church Struck By Lightning

SHOREHAM, NY – A Long Island church was struck by lightning Tuesday afternoon. Saint Anselm's Episcopal Church in Shoreham was struck as a power thunderstorm hammered a portion of Suffolk County's North Shore.

No injuries were reported. The church lost its phone and internet service after the strike, but did not sustain any damage, News 12 reported.

"Thank God all are well and safe," the church posted on its Facebook page after the storm had passed.

The storm popped up with little warning around 1 p.m. Several residents captured videos and photos of hail in Rocky Point. There were more than 800 power outages in East Shoreham after the storm, but PSEG Long Island says they have now all been restored.
