Last year, Wahlburgers announced that it planned to open six restaurants on Long Island. The first one was expected to be in Farmingdale, but that deal fell through, so the casual burger chain set its sights on the former location of Road Trip American Ale House in Port Jefferson Station.
"Wahlburgers" is also the name of a reality television series on the A&E network that started airing in January 2014, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the restaurant and the interactions between the Wahlberg family. The chain opened in 2011 in the Boston area, which is where the family is from.
