Rocky Point Middle School Makes A Splash for ALS

Students raise funds to support the ALS Association and educate their peers on the disease.

Eagle pride ran deep this homecoming with Rocky Point Middle School administrators, teachers and staff kicking off the weekend by accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Participants decked out in ponchos, snorkels and floatation devices prepared for the chilling challenge as students cheered from the crowd. Buckets lined the school’s fields and one-by-one members of the educational community dumped the ice filled water over their heads in a show of unity.

Throughout the week students raised funds to support the ALS Association and educated their peers on the disease. Guest of honor ALS patient Christopher Pendergast attended the event and accepted the school’s donations on behalf of the organization. The middle school spread the mission by turning to the high school and tasking them to get wet for a good cause!
