Rocky Point Middle School Robotics Teams Advances

Radical Robotix and Robo Eagles qualify for L.I. championship.

Rocky Point Middle School’s two robotics teams have qualified to compete in the Long Island Championship this March.

During the Annual First Lego League (FLL) Qualifier Tournament held in late January, both teams – the Radical Robotix and Robo Eagles – dominated the field and outperformed some of the top clubs from across the region. In addition to their bid to the Long Island contest, the Radical Robotix team took home the first place trophy for “Gracious Professionalism” for the second straight year.

During and leading up to the contests, club members work to solve real-world engineering problems and challenges by applying math, science and technology skills. This year’s challenge is FLL World Class, which called for students to work on ways to improve the learning experience of others on a topic of their choice using technology.
