Severe Storms Possible Once Again On Long Island
Severe thunderstorms are possible later in the day Thursday and then a major shift in the weather for Friday.

UPDATE 9:05 p.m.: Special Weather Statements Issued For Nassau, Western Suffolk
Thursday is the last day of scorching heat and potential storms on Long Island before things become much more pleasant.
The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has placed the area at a "marginal risk" for severe weather Thursday evening. The primary threat is damaging winds in the strongest storms. There's a chance of storms from about 6 p.m until 1 a.m. Friday.

A heat advisory is also in effect until 8 p.m. in Nassau County as the heat index nears 95 degrees.
Some scattered showers may linger into the morning Friday, but then we get mostly sunny skies and much cooler air with highs in the low-80s. Temperatures over the weekend may not get out of the 70s. The first day of fall is 32 days away.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Scattered showers, mainly before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 82. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
