Snow Total Estimates Rise; Winter Storm Warning Issued
Snow total estimates have increased and a winter storm warning has been issued for part of the island.

Here's the latest on what you need to know about the approaching storm:
- A winter storm warning will be in effect for the northern half of Long Island from 5 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. A winter storm watch will be in effect for the southern half of the island for that same timeframe.
- A total of 4-7 inches of snow is likely, with locally lower amounts near the immediate coast in the watch area due to rain mixing with snow.
- There is about a 10 percent chance of each of the following: eight inches or more in Farmingdale, nine inches or more in Islip and six inches or more in Westhampton.
