Sound Beach Civic Grants Scholarship Funds
Two local students earned $1,000 each as they get ready for college next fall.

A pair of top students were rewarded by the Sound Beach Civic Association recently with $1,000 scholarships as they ship off to college next fall.
Elizabeth Kidney and Amanda DiSunno both earned the awards, which were given out at last Sunday's fundraiser for the civic, a local food fair held at the Sound Beach Fire Department.
According to civic association president Bea Ruberto, DiSunno will be attending the University of Alabama next fall, and Kidney will attend. St. Joseph's College.
Kidney graduated second in her class of 244 at Rocky Point High School, was a member of the Math Honor Society, was a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist, as well as a Relay for Life All-Star.
DiSunno was a member of the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society, a mentor of Athletes Helping Athletes, and a member of the chorus.
"These are just some of the accomplishments of these two fine young people," Ruberto wrote in an email. "We’re honored to have them in our community."
