Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

The following special weather statement has been issued for Long Island:

While visibilities are generally 1 to 3 miles in drizzle and mist across the Tri-state region, they will occasionally and locally fall to 1/4 mile or less in dense fog early this morning. Motorists should be on the lookout for rapidly changing visibilities during the early morning commute. Reduce speed and use low beam headlights.

Wednesday- Patchy drizzle with scattered showers before 10am, then scattered showers between 10am and noon. Areas of fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. East wind around 7 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Areas of fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. South wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light southwest after midnight.

Thursday- Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 78. West wind 6 to 14 mph.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. West wind 3 to 7 mph.

Friday- A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
