Woman Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver: Police
The driver was arrested a few hours after he struck and killed a 31-year-old Long Island woman, police say.
MILLER PLACE, NY – A 31-year-old Long Island woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday night, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, Mary Ginty was walking northbound on Miller Place Road when she was struck by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra at 9:58 p.m. in front of 55 Miller Place Road. Ginty, of Sound Beach, was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene, but following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, 30-year-old John Lang was arrested at his parents' home in Ridge at 1:55 a.m.

Lang was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Tuesday.
