70-Year-Old Killed In Boerum Hill Hit-And-Run: Cops
Leonard Mitchell was crossing Atlantic Avenue just steps from where he lived when he was hit by a car on Memorial Day, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A 70-year-old man was hit and killed crossing the street on Memorial Day in Boerum Hill, according to police.
Emergency responders found Leonard Mitchell lying in the road between Third Avenue and Nevins Street just before 11 p.m. on Monday, police said.
Mitchell had been trying to cross Atlantic when a dark-colored sedan hit him and kept driving, police discovered.

He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
There were no arrests as of Tuesday morning. Mitchell was living just steps from where he was hit at a transitional housing facility, records show.

The collision was one of at least two fatal crashes in Brooklyn over the weekend.
Also on Atlantic Avenue, near Clermont Avenue in Prospect Heights, a delivery worker died when he hit a center median and was flung from his scooter into the road, where he was then hit by an SUV, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
