NEW YORK CITY, NY — After a lite followup Friday to the Big, Bad Blizzard of January ’16, another storm system has begun approaching from the southwest, forecasters say.
According to AccuWeather meteorologist Alex Sosnowski, the system is expected to move northeast along the Atlantic Seaboard next week. And by the time it’s expected to reach the NYC area, around Monday or Tuesday, the air here ”could be cold enough for wintry precipitation.”

“How much snow will fall and the extent of travel disruptions in the New York City area will depend on how quickly that storm strengthens before taking full aim at New England,” Sosnowski wrote Friday.
As of Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service (NWS) was predicting a 60 percent chance of snow on both Monday and Tuesday.
The NWS also issued a ”hazardous weather outlook” for that time frame, warning:
“There is the potential for a coastal storm late Monday and Tuesday. The exact track and intensity is still uncertain... which will determine the impacts for our region.”
